Some more portraits which I had alot of fun doing. As you can see my blending skills were improving and I was able to put some more details on my works :D
Sketches
I was also practicing alot of linearts. At this point I was quite scared to use colors mainly because I was seeing an improvement in my linearts and I was feeling that adding the colors would drag me down again. So for a few next mounts I was pushing my lineart skills as much as I could.
Also while I was doing my lineart exercises I was trying to come up with interesting concept characters. At this point I had seen alot of other artists drawing characters, sketches and props so I started to do the same.
Here I was trying a more "energetic style" after I have watched Feng Zhu's youtube channel. He was mentioning on one of his videos how he prefers seeing the energy in the lines rather than making them too stiff and perfect so I decided to give it a shot as well :) Here are the results.
Illustrations
I was slowly trying to get out of my comfort zone and decided to do some landscapes as well. Second one is the original piece and first one is an overpainting someone did for me.
Because my dream was to work for Blizzard Entertainment I was also drawing some of the popular characters from their universe such as diablo and many others
Concepts
Here I was slowly getting used with Photoshop and I was trying to come up with interesting character concepts. I was still lacking some of the fundamentals but I was managed to build myself slowly.
I have also started to experiment presentation techniques, as you can see on those portraits. I have tried to see what kind of background fits the best for my characters (grey/ white/ personalized/ etc)
Illustrations
In January 2014, after I found out about the gaming industry via youtube and saw the excitement on all the people's faces who were working there I decided that I want to work in that industry as well. I wanted straight forward to become a concept artist even tough I had no idea at that time what exactly that means.
So I started by simply drawing in photoshop whatever I felt like, I was checking all the great artists out there and was trying to imitate their techniques and learn from them. Two of the first people who inspired me to pursue this career were Alex Negrea (who is one of the best illustrator out there and also my buddy) and Marc Brunet (who was a 3d employee at Blizzard Entertainment) from which I've learned alot from his youtube channel where he was doing illustrations.
Concepts
Back in 2014 all I wanted to do as a concept artist was creating characters and nothing more. But that mentality changed a few years later after I discovered some awesome people who taught me new techniques and not to limit myself :)
Here are some of my earliest concepts ever.
Others
I kinda enjoyed doing digital portraits mainly because I had the luxury to crop and modify the face very easy. It was much more relaxing compared to traditional portraits. On this phase I was still experimenting, getting used to Photoshop.
Since I was little, lineart was something which i was really enjoying doing (on paper). When I started doing digital art I noticed that my skills do not mach the once on paper so I really had to work my ass off to catch up.
Here are some of my earliest attempts of doing linearts and as you can see they are all fails... but I didn't let that discourage me.
